Craig Robbins

Craig is a consultant with over 30 years of experience in investment and cash management for the energy and financial services industries.

He is a specialist in treasury and asset management, economic analysis and forecasting, and is particularly adept in setting investment and financial policy.

Craig has also taught several financial management courses and is a member of Hydro One Brampton's Board of Directors.


The following assignments are representative of his experience and expertise:

Hydro One Brampton

As a member of the Board of Directors for Hydro One Brampton Inc, Craig is Chair of the Brampton Business and Public Policy Committee of the Board and was a member of the selection committee that hired a new President and CEO and Vice President, Finance and Administration.

Canadian Energy Research Institute (“CERI”)

Craig teaches with Asher Drory the Financial Literacy, Project Economics and Strategic Decision Making courses which are jointly sponsored by Decision Economics and CERI. The courses are given to staff from various oil and gas companies. These highly popular open enrolment courses are held in Calgary semi-annually.

Shaman Power Corporation

As Treasurer of Shaman Power Corporation, Craig recently developed a new dividend policy and a share option plan. He is also Chair of the Audit Committee. He participates on project teams with the engineers and other parties to evaluate hydroelectric facilities in Canada and the United States. His role is to conduct economic and financial analysis for these projects.

London Income Limited Partnership

Craig participated on an advisory committee representing investors in an industrial project in London, Ontario. The actions of the advisory committee resulted in a change to the general partner which subsequently culminated in a successful sale of the project.

Island Power Limited Partnership

Craig is on an advisory committee for a limited partnership that owns the rights to a number of hydro-electric sites in Newfoundland. Mr. Robbins' role is to provide strategic, economic and financial advice and undertake economic evaluations of the sites as required.

Foran Financial Institute

Craig reviewed the Economics and Foreign Exchange chapters of Foran's courses for Chartered Financial Analyst students to ensure the material was current.

Manulife Financial

As Manager-Implementation in the Settlements Department of the Investment Division for a one year period from June, 1998 to June 1999, Craig was responsible for the following major initiatives:

  • Managed the North American settlements area and helped the manager reorganize the department
  • Managed the Request for Proposal process to select a custodian bank in Canada
  • Worked with the Corporate Systems Department to implement standard PC applications throughout the department.

Craig also returned to Manulife in 2000 where he filled in for the Vice President of Securities Operations. The function of the department is to handle all back office (settlements and relevant accounting) operations for the Investment Division.

Ontario Hydro

Craig was employed at Ontario Hydro for twenty years where he held a number of senior positions in the Economics and Treasury Division. Some of his major accomplishments during his career with Ontario Hydro included the following

  • Prepared economic forecasts and analyses that were used by engineers to assess capital projects
  • Managed the cash, foreign exchange and debt programs
  • Provided economic forecasts that were used by senior staff in the Pension Department to develop and implement investment decisions
